Wiam Wahhab, head of the Arab Unification Party, provided an analytical reading of the exploding regional landscape. He began by describing Donald Trump’s threats against Iran as “deception” and “maximum pressure,” asserting that war against Iran is impossible because it is a “continent-state.” He also praised the Saudi stance refusing the use of its territory for any military action, considering it a guarantee for regional stability.
Regarding the Syrian file, Wahhab issued a stern warning, stating that “Damascus will be in danger“ if Suwayda is subjected to any new aggression or massacres, emphasizing that the response would be “beyond expectations.” He also launched a fierce attack on Ahmed Al-Shara’ (Jolani), describing him as a partner in the project to partition Syria.
On the Lebanese front, Wahhab warned of internal strife resulting from the incitement against Hezbollah’s weapons, noting that the Shia community feels existentially targeted and will not accept being broken. In a striking piece of advice, he called for adopting “pragmatism” and negotiating with major powers (the Americans) when sensing an existential threat, in order to avoid irreparable losses.
