The Barja Commission of the Arab Unity Party issued the following statement:
The Barja Commission of the Arab Unity Party strongly condemned the writings and inciting slogans that appeared on some of the town’s walls, which targeted the person of the President of the Arab Unity Party, Wi’am Wahhab.
The statement affirmed that these reprehensible actions have no connection to the morals of the people of Barja, nor do they reflect the deeply rooted national and pan-Arab values in their collective conscience, which are founded on respect for others, coexistence, and the rejection of sectarian, inciting, and divisive rhetoric.
The commission considered that these slogans clearly aim to threaten security and stability and to stir discord among the أبناء (sons/people) of the same nation, at a time when Lebanon, more than ever, needs cohesion and unity to confront the serious challenges buffeting the country.
The statement called on the competent security agencies to act swiftly to pursue those responsible and uncover the background behind these acts, in order to preserve civil peace and prevent any attempt to undermine stability in the area.
The statement concluded by affirming that Barja, which has long been a symbol of national and pan-Arab belonging, will remain immune to sedition and a model of coexistence and national unity.
